Quick Byte #8, The Fun & Frolic

Being on the road for 4 days and that too, as riders on the BSA Tour Of Nilgiris is a challenging proposition, by any means. If that wasn’t enough, the roads from Madikeri to Irrupu yesterday, literally, set the ass on fire. Nonetheless, a handful of BSA TFN riders did make the cut, by riding all way the from Madikeri to Irrupu, including the detour to Talacauvery. Others gave Talacauvery a skip. Yet others, mostly the road bikers, opted to be swept. I would call that a wise decision considering that there were more potholes than tar on the road and that the tour is far from over. The tough climb to Ooty still remains, you see.

Day 5, therefore, is rightly chosen as the rest day. We are hosted at the scenic Coorg Guest House here. It takes a mini-hike walking through coffee plantations to reach the lake inside the premises. The night walk was spooky but the one in the morning was soothing to the senses. As I write this, riders are enjoying coracle rides, getting rejuvenated with massages, sipping on hot coffee by the lakeside and unwinding themselves in every possible way.

To the question – How do you feel?, all riders, I caught up with as they came out after the massage, had only one thing to say – Great!!!;

A chirpy oil-soaked Arun D’Silva said – I don’t know what massage it was. But it was really nice. I wanted to tip the guy.

Many others echoed the same and now, based on their suggestion, a drop-box is being planned at the lunch counter, for the masseurs.

Today being a zero-cycling day, most BSA TFN riders plan to either walk or run to Irrupu Falls, which is ~6km away. Also, a visit to the neighboring Nagarhole National Park is on the cards.

In the end, whatever the agenda for the day might look like, it will recharge the riders enough to experience the remaining 3 days of the BSA Tour Of Nilgiris, with them being in their best spirits.
