Quick Byte #6, The Biker Dude

The Tilak'ed Rajesh Nair (Co-founder TFN)

Until Dec 16th 2009, when the BSA Tour Of Nilgiris was kicked off, I considered myself a quintessential one. But definitions have changed since then. I maybe a dude still but I’m certainly not a biker. The real bikers are all riding on the BSA TFN. So if you’re not one of them, please refrain from claiming to be one.

When the route from Madikeri to Iruppu was briefed on Day 4 of the tour, Talacauvery was introduced as an optional detour. The stretch added 16km to the already daunting 142 kms for the day, including 8kms of steep climb. Many would have given it a pass without a second thought, but the dudes and dudettes on the BSA TFN not only ascended the Talacauvery, they performed a Puja as well. Seen in the pic is the tour founder Rajesh Nair, just after descending the Talacauvery.

  1. I have been to Talacauvery but of course by a Tempo Traveller! But at least I never claim to be a biker 😀
