The attempt to jump signal had been sabotaged. The cherubic innocence on her face instantly melted the traffic inspectors heart. He issued a warning, let her go.

Once out of sight, I slid up to the back seat engrossed in my novel.
She loved driving. I loved reading. And warnings were meant to be ignored.
