Go away. You freak me out – she would’ve said had she known its language. It lifted its head, stared at her. She pushed the door to frighten it. It got trapped in the hinge – tail wagging on one side, eyes popping out of their socket on the other.

The lizard had kicked the bucket. She fainted.
