BarCamp IV

with 8 comments

I missed the last one in Bangalore (sometime around the end of March if I remember correctly) The one I attended last was in Hyderabad (I dont remember when). The upcoming edition promises to be one gala event and there is nothing in the world that can stop me from attending this πŸ˜€

BarCamp 4 @ Bangalore aka BCB4 is what I am referring to!!

Considering the techie concentration in this part of India, I am sure the 2 days (28/29 July ’07) will see enormous participation. (Evident from the # of registrations done till date)

What makes this BarCamp unique is the introduction of Collectives. As the name suggests, a collective is bunch of enthusiasts interested in a particular field/technology/topic. This, in-effect diminishes the ‘un’conference aspect of a BarCamp where being unorganized is the norm πŸ™‚

Zeroing in on the collectives is quite a task because there are more than a handful which are appealing to me (I will need to do some homework to choose/shuttle effectively). Well, I too had or rather have the concept for a collective but due to serious time crunch could not give shape to it 😦

Anyways … doesn’t matter. Looking forward to a geeky (as opposed to the title of my blog) blast πŸ˜€

Obviously meeting pals slogging at IIMB, which happens to be the venue of the camp, is also on the agenda!!

  1. Sorry for sounding so completely ignorant of how ur industry functions but:

    – Wts the concept of collectives, sounds interesting I must say..
    – Is is just tech or other field of study as well??

  2. @Sam: Don b sry lady! But so many questions … read on πŸ™‚

    – The basic fn is to get your interest level rising and in the process learn more about what interests you. Dig deeper, get ur hands dirty, etc. Mostly from people who’ve been there, done that or almost there .. πŸ™‚

    – The idea behind ‘Collectives’ was to form an initial network before one physically arrives at the venue. Dont know how well it has gone with the junta

    – Not just tech, I’ll say … the audience is mix n match but some tech jargon definitely goes into the presentation/demos. Take for instance, the Blogger collective where a talk is titled – “A Technical Non-Jargon for Non-Techies” or for e.g. the Photo Collective and many more!
