Great Expectations

He worked only for money. He had never intended to be the Go-To guy. He trudged the middle path, mostly. Upon hearing of the nine month severance package she got, his pupils dilated.

All work ceased, he waited for his turn eagerly. It came, and it was severe – for there no longer were any severance benefits.

Closure

It’d been a year since they parted ways but the sms’ never ceased. She was stuck. He had moved on. They, sometimes, talked. He never made the call though. She pleaded on catching up. He obliged. They made love at her apartment.

Unable to zero-in on a closure mechanism, he has now resorted to apathy.


Edited to remove the F-word. Had used it in the first place to fit the story in 55 words. It appeared crass I was told, hence the change.

Pandora’s Box

She woke up next to him. Previous night was a blur. She cursed the non-functioning anti-hangover pill. Later when the impregnation bit surfaced, she packed her bags and disappeared into oblivion.

Now with her daughters wedding just a week away, she feels a sudden pinch to meet the father. She, however, rightly curbs her desires.

Revival

There are days when things go wrong. One may even have a bad week. A lean patch could stretch to a month too. One’s folks are as much troubled as the individual, in such a case.

He was administered a forced break, in order to rejuvenate. He jumped off the cliff. No amount of resuscitation helped.

Craft Prevails

Everyone has shades of grey in their character. The era of the likes of Mother Teresa, Florence Nightingale is long gone. Pardon me, but they too mustn’t have been flawless.

Today, the sudden demise of Jichael Mackson has people around the world mourn him as a great entertainer rather than a maligned paedophile. Great to see!


I distinctly remember a certain visit to my cousins place years back when I first witnessed what MJ craze was. A life-size MJ poster adorned the walls and the steps of Thriller had been practiced to perfection. The video of the same had the child in me scared but nonetheless, the music grew on me. I became a fan too.

Still on the lookout for that elusive something, she ensures the youngsters follow their heart.
Today, she is one of the country’s most reputed career counselor.

With Nivea for men on the face, Axe deospray on the underarm, Levi’s unbuttoned jeans showing his CK brief and Manforce in his pocket, he set out for the night club. He had seen this work, on television and was hoping to get lucky.

She too loved TV and, thought she had found her dude.

Happy Go Lucky

As I took to a couch at Barista, a group of teenagers barged in. In their jolly good mood, a challenge was thrown. I got attentive to witness the execution.

She turned, the tray overturned, the coffee was all over the waiter. He apologized and tidied the place.

The bet was won. I was nostalgic.
