Age – Just a number or more …
Someone once said – “Behind every successful man, there is a woman”
I believed it to be the entire story for a long time until someone remarked that there is a tiny epilogue to it which says – “… To pull him back” It may sound crass in the first place and I am no proponent of the same. But there are accounts which corroborate the above .
In most cases, it may not be a very explicit ‘pull’ which makes it to the public eye but over a period of time, that force empowers and the bloke succumbs assuming it to be his destiny.
Before I further enrage the female readers of this ‘piece of s#$%’ (yea … that is what you are thinking .. right?), let me clarify that whatever is mentioned above could equally apply to men as well. It is just that some egghead chose to phrase it like that and, as with most other things, it has stuck since then.
Anyways, as must be clear by now, this post deals with relationships – a cobweb no spider can dream of weaving. It is only humans and their so called intellect that can introduce complexities of such nature that it becomes difficult even for them to deal with it, at a later stage.
Based on the above, I strongly believe that individual ambitions and aspirations go for a toss sooner or later when one is in a serious relationship. Anything serious demands time, time which was otherwise spent in pursuit of one’s goals.
But, another aspect which I am not very sure about is the age difference between the partners. There is no set age for maturity. Life itself is the best teacher and it chooses its pupils randomly. Some graduate at a very tender age, some later in life whereas … some never!
Does this mean that age has got nothing to do with it? And, that it should be only the last concern, if at all?
Oh yes, I know about Michael Douglas and Zeta Jones and also Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher. Closer home, celebrity couples that come to mind are Tendulkar and wife and the no-longer-couple Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh. I am sure there will be numerous other examples who are not in the limelight.
